Telling Your Story: Personal Essay Writing Workshop

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and define the elements of the Writer’s Practice: Attitudes, Habits of Mind, Skills and Knowledge
  • Incorporate the Sense Memory exercise into their writing to add detail and specificity to their personal writing
  • Utilize the Experience vs. Memory exercise to interrogate their memories and add depth to their personal writing
  • Engage in metacognitive reflection on their work in order to continue to develop their writing practice
